Keely and Dane, staying at Backwoods Lodge, had a great day on the hard water with guide Trevor Smith! What are your Spring plans for Alaska? WE ARE CURRENTLY OPEN FOR FISHING THOUGH THE ICE, feel confident to book online as did Keely and Dane, and give the guides advanced notice if possible, being they are not here full time yet
Very glad to introduce one of the new fishing guides that will be working our private lakes and local streams this summer. Georgia Native, TREVOR SMITH has been fishing since he was old enough to hold a rod. This outdoor enthusiast fell in love with fly fishing when he moved to Montana in 2012. He returned to the South in 2014 to complete the Appalachian Trail, from Georgia to Maine! After completing the AT he enjoyed mastering his fly skills in Washington State before moving to Fairbanks. Trevor is an experienced Alaskan Guide and owner of TSFLYCO. He is excited about his first season with Fish Denali and anxious to give you the fishing experience of a lifetime!
SPIN, FLY OR JIG FISH, Not everyone wants to fish the same way, especially with a larger group or with children. Here at Fish Denali and on our Chavey Lakes, you have options to please everyone you are with, and can switch and learn new skills and techniques. Our guides are the best at giving folks what they want and have the most options at their disposal. Reserve early for larger groups and feel confident to book directly online or with a phone call. We are not currently sold at any other tour desk or hotel
We sure love when folks bring their children, guiding families is a specialty here at Fish Denali. A lot of kids have caught their first fish here, and our guides are real happy to give the kids the extra attention. Probably why they normally out fish the adults and are ready to go fishing again with you when you get home.
If we are willing to put this much effort into "just putting gas in our vehicle", think about how much effort we will put into your fishing adventure and how much we have put into our private fishing area. Just a thought to hold when you are planning and choosing your fishing trips this year, or recommending a fishing trip for your friends or guests!
FIRST FISH FOR 2018 Our fishing guide crew for 2018 got together yesterday to see how the fish were wintering. Well, 5 holes total drilled in the south and middle lakes produced 10 fish in one hour using only 1 rod. Fish were very eager to bite, in REALLY GOOD HEALTHY CONDITION, ranging from 26" down to 8" all Rainbow Trout and 1 Arctic Grayling. Everyone had fun and I am real pleased not only with the fish but with the best group of fishing guides we have ever had here, an all Alaskan Crew too. They can sure provide you with a very high quality fishing adventure anytime from now to the end of September. Do not hesitate to book a trip directly online through our website or facebook page.
Arctic Grayling Buck in the Spawn - taken by fishing guide Taylor Chew 2017- taken right in front of FISH DENALI office in one of our spawning streams. He won a photography contest with this one! One of the reasons this fishery is so successful is the spawning stream is PROTECTED, no fishing. In any public streams, anglers would be throwing flies and lures right in here and disrupting a very important time in the future of a fishery. If you want to take photos of spawning Grayling or Rainbow Trout, be here late May / early June, evenings are best times of day. Just give us a call to find out when is the peak time and join a fishing trip at the same time (away from the spawning activity). Not all fish spawn every year, seems like it is every 3 years here. TIGHT LINES TO YOU
Would you like to experience something like this this summer? Our guides help folks visiting Denali do this every day, they provide all the gear, courtesy transportation if needed and the knowledge to help you get awesome photos and experiences like this. Feel confident to reserve online for an epic experience with FISH DENALI, just like all these folks did! Stream fishing for Grayling is sure fun. One of the many advantages of booking with us is we know these streams better than anyone and you always have our private lakes and Trophy Fishery to also enjoy if the streams are not producing or you have caught enough and want to experience fighting a huge Rainbow Trout too
Craig Sanford booking trips in our beautiful winter office. Rain, sleet, or snow, doesn’t stop us for booking trips. We are excited for another summer of guiding.
5 Things you didn't know about Arctic Grayling flylordsmag.com/single-post/2018/01/05/5-things-you-didnt-know-about-arctic-grayling/
Fly fishing for Arctic Grayling in the rivers and creeks of Alaska is great fun and usually very productive. These beautiful fish feed voraciously throughout the summer and are often eager to bite a dry fly. This combination of clear water and eager fish makes this experience a great way for novice anglers to learn the basics. Novice and experienced anglers always alike have a blast catching these fish! The best way to experience this for yourself is to book our full day trip which allows ample time to drive and hike to places where few others venture. If you don't have time for a full day trip, don't worry; our half day option can put you on some outstanding Grayling and incredible Rainbow Trout in our exclusive private lake. Online booking is quick and easy. Space is limited and trips fill fast during the season so reserve your trip today!
TRIBUTE TO OUR PAST FISHING GUIDES who provided 5 star fishing adventures day after day, gave folks access to Chavey Lakes Fishery and our local mountain streams, created ALOT of smiles and sent guests home with some really beautiful photos and memories! A big thumbs up! Some were here for several years and others for just a few weeks. Our crew for the upcoming 2018 season, in my opinion, IS THE BEST WE HAVE EVER HAD HERE. So, come and wet a line, catch some real nice fish and enjoy a 5 star adventure, whether you are experienced or wanting to learn to fly fish
